Vanda lamellata v. remediosae - a compact Vanda!!!
This species is considered to be one of the most vigorous and free flowering vanda species, and is suitable for whatever light level you use to flower cattleyas, rather than the "fry it" levels often used on other Vandas. Combined with its size, its likely to be a great choice for the average home grower who wants to try Vandas.
These are easy to grow in plastic pots with no media, just water frequently as if its mounted. Some folks like to experiment with big chunky media, wine corks, for example, to add more structure and something for the plant to hold onto. Climate data associated with the species at
hortusorchis.org suggests that the species can tolerate intermediate conditions in the winter, but I have not yet experimented with this.
You will get the plant shown, which is blooming size, but not currently in bloom. Flower photos are for example only. This individual is more mature than others I have available at this time.
