Last call and cold weather shipping in effect!
Posted by Julia on Nov 20th 2025
Winter is bearing down on us fast here in New Hampshire, as it is wont to do.
Consequently:
- Heat packs are now required
- Last call before winter closure
The first I think is self explanatory. You'll need a heat pack in your shipment to ensure plants don't freeze. As a result, only shipping options including heat packs are available at checkout. Orders placed via eBay may be refused if a heat pack is not included. If at shipping time it doesn't seem the heat pack is actually required, by some miracle, you'll get a small refund.
We still recommend UPS for folks who are also experiencing cold, as USPS can sometimes take longer than the life span of a heat pack nowadays.
As for the second item, I don't ship in the coldest parts of winter, or during the holiday rush, both for the same reason: stuff gets lost, frozen, damaged. Heat packs start to become less useful past a certain point. I apologize for that inconvenience, but at the end of the day, nobody likes frozen orchids and it just saves a lot of anxiety.
I will be taking orders for a couple more weeks, and then close in early December. This is somewhat dictated by weather, but typically we shut down no later than the end of the second week in December.
From that point, orders will be closed until Spring 2026. Join the newsletter if you'd like to be notified when we reopen.
Local pickup or pickup at Massachusetts Orchid Society events can still be arranged during the winter.
