Dendrobium purpureum is a really rewarding species bearing pom-pom-like clusters of bright pink-purple flowers along deciduous canes. These can get quite tall, but they are really compact at the base, which makes them easier to maintain, space-wise - though that said, they don't have to get super tall to bloom for the first time.
These like plenty of water and fertilizer when growing, and prefer a well drained mix and infrequent repotting. Plan to give established, older plants a slightly drier winter rest to encourage flowering, during which time they will shed foliage. They prefer warm conditions year round, and high light.
