Dyckia Pale Ryder is a heavily barbed terrestrial bromeliad with long scapes of successively opening, yellow-orange flowers that are very popular with hummingbirds if you summer them outside.
Grow as for succulents with more water in summer, less in winter, in a well drained medium. Will tolerate a cool winter (I keep them at a minimum 45F in winter). This genus is typically found grow among very rocky, thin substrates in Brazil. Excellent companion plant for cattleyas and sinningias.
You will get the plant shown, which is 1-2 years from blooming size.
PRO TIP: get a pair of welding gloves to make handling these sharp little cuties easier :)
