Bc Walter August 'Pink Lip' x Laelia pumila
I'm experimenting with using Walter August to make crosses that I hope will be improved versions of the typical nodosa fare, meaning with more color potential, but with similar vigor and ease of blooming. This particular Walter August has a flower shaped like nodosa, but much larger and more flat, as well as a distinct pink lip. Here, it has been crossed with Cattleya (Laelia) pumila - a dwarf species with dark purple-pink flowers and a tolerance for cool winters. Expect results similar to Brassocattleya Terri Drake, with greater potential for intense color, potential for interesting markings, on a small sized cattleya hybrid.
We have flasks of these available containing approximately 20-25 seedlings each, grown right here in our own lab. The plants are ready to deflask. You will get the flask shown or one similar in size. Flower photos show the parents of this cross.
