This species is a great example of why I like the look of species vandas more than hybrids. This has an interesting shape and dramatic coloring - white with red spots - plus a grape jelly fragrance. Believe it or not, some people grow this species potted. Growing vandas potted makes me itchy, though, so I’d recommend a clay pot with big holes and a big chunky media to hedge bets. For now, I'm doing my usual empty plastic pot thing, since it seems to encourage new roots nicely.
On average, suavis is reported to have higher flower count than regular tricolor, and it has sometimes been considered a separate species.
