Tolumnia (Hispaniella) henekenii is a fascinating dwarf species with a thick, furry lip that mimics the look of a bee.

This species has a strong preference for mounted culture, so all of the seedlings on offer are mounted on cork.  These are blooming size plants, most with multiple growths.

A brief article on equitant culture can be found here: https://www.aos.org/orchids/additional-resources/tolumnia-basics.aspx Keep warm and bright, and mist roots daily when possible. We keep them with warm growing cattleyas.

You will get one of the plants shown mounted on cork, or one similar in size.  Flower photo is for reference only, plants are not currently in bloom but you can expect similar results.

FLAT RATE SHIPPING - one price for as many plants as you want!  (lower 48 states only)
All plants are wrapped carefully for shipping. Plant may be shipped bare root at my discretion.  Safe arrival of buds and flowers not guaranteed.
Sorry, we are not currently shipping to Alaska or Hawaii.

    Fast grower, amazing flower

Posted by Kristin on May 22nd 2026

Ordered this a year ago. Came in great shape, started growing a new fan of leaves immediately, and grew so fast you could basically watch it. By the next spring, it was putting up a flower stalk and now it's blooming. I wish I could share a photo. It's gorgeous, I love it. It's been the easiest growing orchid in my collection. As an entomologist, I love the idea of a bee mimicking orchid and I think I've even found the likely bee species on iNaturalist (they're Anthophora!). Thanks so much!
